Frequently asked questions.

How does the journey work?

After you inquire or sign up, we’ll mail you a Space Kit with a standard envelope and writing paper. Write your letter and send it back to us. You can include a passport-size photo for an additional fee. Your letter’s unique barcode will let you follow its journey in the Orbe8 app.

Your letter will travel into space aboard our satellite, launched in collaboration with our flight partner.

How will I know my letter has safely reached space?

We’ll stay in close contact with our flight partner and keep you updated through Orbe8, from launch preparations to confirmation that your letter has reached space. We’ll share each milestone as it’s verified by the mission team.

What happens when it gets to space?

Your letter will remain aboard our satellite as a small time capsule in space. We’ll share mission details and what happens at the end of its journey once confirmed with our flight partner.

Are you creating space debris?

We’re planning for letters to remain secured within a mission payload. We’ll confirm the debris and end-of-mission approach with our flight partner before submissions open.

Does it matter how much my item weighs?

Orbe8 is for paper letters. We’ll share size and weight limits before submissions open.
